A message from Robyn using the contact form on this website - 2008
Hello fellow sisters, I grew up in Monte Pio from the early 50's to 1962.
First I wish to congratulate the organizers and dedicated volunteers who have made this page possible, the pictures are terrific, thank you.
I've been living in the United States for 37 years, and am now relocating back to Oz May 2008. I've been back to visit with Sister Regina, Sister Malachy and Sister Jude.
Meeting with Sister Regina was an important event in my life, considering the deep memories I had of her disciplines. However it took me years to face the truths and to forgive my past as well as myself.
Without Monte Pio I would have had a life without purpose and self direction, it prepared me for a life of endurance and struggle. However I maintained a sense of humour, rebelliousness and a desire to win, most of all I said WHY regardless of circumstances.
Today people pay a fortune to have sports, ballet, choir, field and track games, we did it everyday. And yes, I was the one who got the Javelin Spear through my leg! Sister Regina healed me; I thought she was trying to kill me! Lol. Thanks to her I can walk normally today.
Memories, I can go on and on, except I have let go of the past with all it's hurts, shame and blame; today I live in the now, remembering the happy times and mischief from my childhood with a grin on my face.
I'm happy to know I'm not alone in the world, that I do have sisters who understand and are loving.
Hello to The Sisters of Mercy, I hope this finds you well and happy.
Thank you
Robyn Wharton
